WENDY BUONAVENTURA

“Through her inspirational teaching, writing and mesmerising performances,
Wendy has re-established a long-maligned artform You couldn’t hope for a better person
to lead you into the world of Middle Eastern dance. She is that rare thing, an
artist whose words are as illuminating as her performance"
-   Venue.

Wendy has been teaching, performing and writing about women’s dance for over 20 years. Her work, internationally, has been the subject of a 30 minute HTV documentary.  She has written and presented for Radio 4, and in April 2008 she launches SIROCCO. This weekend festival of Middle Eastern & Mediterranean Dance takes place in Frome from April 18th-20th and includes 2 days of classes and 2 evening shows at the Merlin Theatre.

Wendy’s weekly class at New Oriel Hall takes place on Mondays from 8-9.30pm.

They are based on Middle Eastern dance movements, which exercise the torso, hips and spine, keeping the body supple and well-toned. Therapeutic and creative, these classes are designed for women who want to keep their bodies in tune in a pleasurable way, mixing the high energy of North African dance with the flowing, laid-back movements of Egypt .
