Scottish country dancing is energetic and lively, very sociable and a great form of exercise on cold winter evenings. A new beginner's class will be starting on 17 September in the Oriel Hall on Wednesday evenings from 8.15 - 10.00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend whether you have danced before or not. There's no need to bring a partner. Each class will cost £5, payable on the door. All you need bring is enthusiasm and a pair of flat flexible shoes.

Dancing is a great way to make new friends and work off the stress of daily life. The lilting and lively music just makes you want to step out to the rhythms of jigs, reels and strathspeys. It's a real challenge to learn new skills, working out the patterns of the dance and getting your feet to follow. Dancers will be taught the basic steps, formations and dances to enable them to attend country dances held in and around Bath.

The class will be taught by Fiona Grant, a certificated teacher and member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (www.rscds.org. The Society has branches worldwide, and dance events and classes are held on every continent.
